Free Four! Official Info and Cover

(I know I posted about this yesterday, but I have more fun and official things to say today.)

Before the release of Insurgent, I wrote a scene from Divergent from Four's perspective to be released via facebook if we reached 35,000 pre-orders, as a kind of thank you for my very dedicated and spectacular readers. In a lovely and exciting turn of events, we did reach 35,000 pre-orders! And Four was free! But only on the Internet.

(By the way, the scene in question is "the knife-throwing scene." A scene from Tris's initiation training.)

I started to get a lot of requests for a more permanent version of the scene that people could keep on their computers or read on their assorted e-reading devices, and my publisher decided it would be a good idea to make the scene available as an e-booklet.

So right now, you can pre-order the scene from all the usual sources-- there are links to all the retailers on this page, right at the top-- for 99 cents. And it will be yours! Permanently! On August 7th!

Okay, so that's the Official Info. But also, there is a really awesome cover. I even thought about printing it out and putting it on my wall. Or wallpapering my office with it. As usual, a huge shout out to the designers at Harper for being fan-freaking-tastic.

Anyway, here it is:

Seriously, I am in love.

That is all.

P.S. As someone who did not own an e-reader until fairly recently, I can vouch for the fact that you can in fact buy e-books and still read them on your computer, you just have to find the right format and the right program to view them in. If anyone has advice about this, feel free to share it in the comments.

P.P.S. That said, no, it won't be in paper form, because it's so short.

Clarification About "Free Four"

Because I’ve seen some confusion floating around The Interwebz…

You may have noticed that you can pre-order “Free Four” (the knife-throwing scene from Divergent as told from Four’s POV) as an e-booklet in a variety of places. This is the same thing that was available on Facebook, but we were getting a lot of requests for a more permanent version (ie: one that you can put on your e-reader, so you don’t always have to be on facebook to read it), and that’s what this is. It is 99 cents, and only in e-book form.

It is NOT a whole book from Four’s perspective. It is just a scene. (I would have had to have magical powers to write a longer piece from his perspective in just a few months— magical powers, I tell you!)

Just didn’t want to get anyone’s hopes up! I’m still working away on Book 3.

Huntington Beach Event Tonight!

It is currently 7:45 and I am about to embark on the trek to California with my fellow authors. The Saint Louis event was great-- thanks to Left Bank Books for hosting, and to the Ethical Society of Saint Louis for being gorgeous, and to all the readers for their enthusiasm and general awesomeness!

Tonight we'll be in the Huntington Beach Barnes and Noble at 7:00PM. More info here

Catch you on the flip side, Californians.

Saint Louis Event Tonight!

The event info is here:

I think it is actually at 7PM, not 6:30PM as I previously listed, but I'm not sure. If you're concerned, you could probably call to find out.

All right, time for me to get on a plane!

Dark Days Tour, Part 2 Schedule

Next week I will be on the second leg of the Dark Days tour with Aprilynne Pike (Wings), Dan Wells (Partials), and S.J. Kincaid (Insignia). Here is where I will be and when:

Huntington Beach, CA
Barnes and Noble (7881 Edinger Avenue), 7:00PM

Salt Lake City, UT

And not part of the Dark Days tour, but still schedule-relevant...

Orlando, FL; Ascendio 2012
Note: Ascendio is a conference, so if you haven't already registered I don't think you can register now to make it to any of the events I'm listing here. I don't have much spare time, so unfortunately I won't be doing any non-Ascendio events in Orlando. But I'll see you there, Potterheads!
